Swagelok is looking for a talented Telecommunication Engineer with CISCO focused experience. They will be
responsible for moderately complex engineering and/or analytical activities associated with one or more technical areas
within the telecom function (network design, engineering, implementation, operations/user support). Candidates must
have two or more years of experience working with CISCO routers and switches, CISCO VoIP phones (call manager),
Unity voicemail, CISCO wireless access points, and CISCO CCX (Contact Center Express). Experience using Nexus
switching is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot wide-area connections across the four dimensions of the enterprise
architecture: suppliers, distributors, centralized and decentralized sites.
• Configure, monitor and troubleshoot bandwidth for routers and switches (and/or protocol switches), analyze traffic
patterns, volumes and assess national and international connectivity bottlenecks and cost.
• Participate in selecting, developing, integrating, and implementing network management applications.
• Monitor fault tolerance of network resources and ensure transparent file replication, dynamic access to
applications and server resources, network address allocation, assignment and management.
• Responsible for the configuration and administration of WAN infrastructure, topologies and services; providing
server and printer access; security and password administration; chargeback, and troubleshooting.
• Problem determination and resolution of network connections and components.
• Interact with Customers and IT resources to establish WAN server project requirements; promote/enforce
organizational networking standards and procedures, and institutes production standards.
• Develop close working relationship with other network administrators ( i.e., LAN, Web, Telecommunication) on
implementing MPLS, ISDN, T-1/T-3, fiber, FDDI, switched and gigabit Ethernet, VoIP and ATM technologies.
• Off hours support, as necessary.
• Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with WAN operations including administering network performance, security and
fault management, network topologies and domains; managing communications protocols; protocol analyzers and
sniffers; and managing private addressing schemes (e.g., DHCP, DNS)
• Knowledge of services: directory and domain model, security and authentication model, file and print, web and
database, media, communication (VPN, RAS, Radius), clustering architecture, centralized backup management,
and distributed client connections over multiple servers
• Familiarity with implementing and managing VoIP technologies both domestically and internationally.
• 1+ years of experience managing WAN and firewall security policies and profiles
• 1+ years of experience in chargeback and network monitoring and troubleshooting consoles such as NetIQ,
OpenView, MMC and/or other competing products such as Transcend, Optivity, Works, and Patrol
Skills: Windows Server OS’s, Internet Information Server, TCP/IP, OpenView, NetIQ, Patrol, Optivity, MMC, SMTP,
NNTP, IMAP, MAPI, POP3, LDAP, IMAP4, HTTP, HTTPS, X.400, X.500, MIME, CISCO routers and switches, Active
Directory and domain model, Security and authentication model services, File and print services, Web and database
services, Media services, Communication (VPN, RAS, Radius), Clustering architecture and distributed client connections
over multiple servers (e.g., MSCS).
